January 10th, Igen, Induction, and Interviews

 Szia!

Our names are Siri, Signe, Mer and Uvin. We are room MSSU and here's what our day looked like!

We begin everyday with hotel breakfast (featuring the music video channel on the TV) and taking public transit to McDaniel College. Everyday, we pass by beautiful architecture that we have come accustomed to. This blog helped us regain an appreciation for our surroundings that we're lucky to see. Here are some pictures from our morning commute:

Today is an average day for us Budapest kids! We're settling into a routine that involves a morning Hungarian lesson and an afternoon math lesson. In the morning, we learned more about how to say numbers in Hungarian and introduce facts about ourselves such as age, name, and where we live. Emese (our fantastic Hungarian teacher and tour guide) was rocking a fuzzy wolf jacket that we HAD to feature. We loved it (and her)!

At lunch today, Sig and Siri got falafel pitas from the local kebab restaurant. It is probably 5 steps from the front door of the school, which was super convenient. Plus, we got to practice our Hungarian numbers when they only called out our orders in Hungarian. Our food was delicious!

After lunch, we had our math lesson of the day which was on the lovely topic of induction. This is a proof writing style that while super helpful, we found slightly frustrating at first You may be able to see that in our picture on the bus ride home.

Andrew was feeling great about it though!

While Mer and Uvin headed to a cafe down the road to work on homework, Siri and Sig went grocery shopping at Lidl, a store near our hotel. We were somehow able to navigate the self check out which was written in only Hungarian!

Then, Mer and Uvin went to get ramen for dinner, Signe ate in with some leftovers, and Siri went to a professor dinner! We all had great food!

Of course, after our math lesson and homework time, we all still had questions for Adam and went to office hours to ask a few questions. We got to work with our peers and Adam was very helpful! We can all sleep better knowing we (mostly) get induction.

While Siri and Sig had been writing the blog, Mer and Uvin interviewed many people on our trip (including Adam!). Make sure to watch that below to hear about everyone's experiences so far including meals, favorite sites, and math!
