January 8th, First day of Hungarian lessons!

We started off today with the most important meal of the day in the hotel! There were music videos playing on the TV so we discussed some cultural differences between the US and Hungary in regards to music. After the crew of students who eat breakfast later (9am) we headed to the bus to make it to class.

Our bus ride in was not very crowded today! Likely because you can usually find a bus going where you need it to every 4 minutes.

We talked about the Greatest Common Divisor and the Euclidean Algorithm in math class today.

Today was the first day of Hungarian class! We learned how to pronounce the vowels and that there are 44 letters in the Hungarian alphabet. For anyone curious olló means scissors in english (which turns out have been around for 3,000 - 4,000 years. Who knew!)

After class some of us went to a local coffee shop (la lucia) to crank out our math homework for the day (how studious!) Nothing like doing math with good friends and good coffee!

After finishing up homework (and a quick nap in between) a small group went out to dinner at a Hungarian restaurant. We are still all shocked that we have to pay for our water!!

We are all excited to continue learning Hungarian and more math tomorrow! Remember kids, danger is real but fear is a choice!

Jó éjt from Room 452, Grace, Travis, and Will!
