One Last Week!

Hi again! This is room MSSU (Mer, Siri, Signe, and Uvin) and we're your blog authors today! Today is a bit of a gloomy day here in Budapest with cloudy skies and light rain this morning on our commute to school.

Mother nature must know that today marks only one week left in our program! Can you believe it? We sure can't! There's lots more to enjoy during our last week and we plan on making the most of it. Today that meant a double math class, after all we do still have a class to finish and a final next week.

The math topic of the day was a bit of a throwback to the wonderful polynomial equations we all know and love from middle/high school algebra. You could hear the song many of us learned to memorize the solution to a quadratic equation being sung under our breath. Of course it's number theory though, so we dove much deeper, learning a new theorem and talking about lots of square numbers.

After our first math lesson, it was time for lunch, my (Signe) personal favorite meal of the day here in Budapest! Siri and I went to the kebab place right next door and got our favorite kebab falafel sandwiches. Whatever sauce they put on their food is fantastic!

Then it was time for some homework and more math class! I think all of us can agree that the second half of math was a little less straight forward, but we tried our best and started our homework. At office hours tonight we needed a little extra light and Adam was happy to help us out.

Siri and Sig went out and got Vapianos (a quick Italian place) for dinner and ran into some fellow Oles! The food was delish and we got to get some homework done (watched our shows) while we ate.

Then, Mer and Uvin were off to a ballet called Onegin at the Hungarian State Opera House. It looked beautiful! It was a stunning performance in a building that was just as stunning!

Meanwhile, Siri got some well deserved rest (she's been hit by the second round of the cold going around our class) and Signe was off to the Hungarian Dance House with much of our group. Of course we had to stretch out before dancing.

At the dance house, we learned many traditional Hungarian folk dances, often done in pairs or in a large circle and boy was it a workout! All of us were working hard to keep up with the steps in a very warm room, but it was amazing. As we got more familiar with the steps and the (live!) music, we even joined in with the locals in a few dances.

After a long day of math, good food, homework, and lots of dancing, this is MSSU signing off on our final blog. But of course we can't leave you without a video! Check out Mer and Uvin's video below, asking our friends how they feel about having only one week left.
